Private Tastings

Private Tastings

Seriously, what’s more fun than a beer and cheese tasting at work? Private tastings are one of the most fun things I get to do, and one of the few times I get to show off my uber-nerd knowledge of cheese these days. This particular office had two(!) kegs in their office kegerator, and then we brought in bottles for the other two pairings:

Drake’s Blonde with Holey Cow, Lagunitas IPA with Vella Dry Jack, Red Hawk with Anchor Porter, and our California Beer Cheese with Speakeasy Prohibition–for those who would like to play along at home.

Holey Cow was by far the hit cheese of the night–it’s just so endlessly snackable. Red Hawk was a close second, despite the fact that they were a bit underripe. I think even young Red Hawk is ┬ájust too salty and creamy to resist. It’s also an all-around beer cheese. It goes with pretty much everything except IPAs. In general I tell people not to get too stressed about putting together pairings because good beer+good cheese=a good night, but IPAs are notoriously hard to pair up. They bring out the bitter in everything. The Vella was the only cheese that the Lagunitas would play nicely with at all.

If you have any occasion you’d like to set up a tasting for, shoot us a message. I guarantee it’ll be delicious!
